Stargazing in the Royal Gorge Region

The Canon City area offers excellent stargazing thanks to its relatively dark skies and dry climate. Areas around the Royal Gorge and BLM lands north of town provide particularly good viewing conditions. On clear nights, you can see the Milky Way, numerous constellations, and frequent meteor activity. Some local campgrounds and parks host astronomy events. Bring a blanket and allow your eyes to adjust to the darkness for the best experience.
